Osteoporosis

I have not yet developed osteoporosis, but I do have osteopenia, a precursor to osteoporosis. Therefore I take a calcium-magnesium-zinc tablet (1,000 mg. of Calcium, 400mg. of magnesium, and 15mg. of zinc) twice a day. I also take vitamin D, and 3 tablets of the mineral boron twice a day. Recently, I decided to cut way back on the boron, thinking that it is probably not really necessary. Not long afterwards I began experiencing back pain in my upper back where I probably have an old injury, possibly something like a compression fracture. I have had pain there previously, but had not experienced it for a long time. I resumed my boron, and in about a week the pain had completely disappeared. Boron appears to me to be very important for building and maintaining bones. Unfortunately, building and maintain bones is very complicated and requirements many nutrients besides calcium. I think the above "recipe" is a good one.
