We live in a nation of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. And this nation will not perish from the earth. It is extremely powerful. Unfortunately our former nation of the people, by the people and for the people has perished from the earth. What brought about this change? MONEY. Money can buy anything, even a nation.
We are not going to be able to reform health care. The Health Corporation (Insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies) do not want health care reform. They would lose a great deal of money if they were no longer allowed to charge for health care and then deny payment for services. They would also lose money if medications were affordable. So reform will not come about.
Why are bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics? Become the farm corporations pour tons of antibiotics into cattle, pigs, chickens, and other livestock to keep them well, rather than feeding them properly and giving them space. (And the doctor tells you it's because you gave you child antibiotics for an ear infection). Why are super bugs that are resistant to all antibiotics developing? For the same reason: too much antibiotic use with farm corporation animals.
Why is there no cure for cancer after 40 years of "war on cancer"? Actually there are very few cures for anything. The antibiotics were the basic miracle cure. (And now we are losing them.)There is not much else. The real progress in health has been through prevention. We can now prevent typhoid, tetanus, cholera, diphtheria, measles, yellow fever, polio, etc. Why can't we prevent cancer? The corporations would not like that. It would mean that we would have to have clean air, clean water, clean soil, and food without chemicals. It would make business much more expensive if corporations had to clean up all of the pollution they cause.
Corporations believe in better living through chemistry. They are adding chemicals to our food at an astounding rate. Our children's brains are being destroyed. We call it autism. We would not want anyone to prevent this problem. Destroying our children's brains is a small price to pay for better living.
In the last thirty years, corporations have created a brave new world for all of us. We need to express our gratitude to them. We shouldn't be criticizing them for destroying the entire world economy. After all, they have to experiment and be allowed to be creative. Who knows what great new things are awaiting us in the future?
