BOWE BERGDAHL

The release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from captivity has created a great deal of negative emotion.  People do not believe that he should be brought home because he apparently deserted his post in Afghanistan.  It has always been military policy to bring every soldier home and not leave anyone behind.  People seem to be severely lacking in compassion.  Apparently his parents have received hate mail and death threats.  Do the people sending this kind of mail call themselves Americans?  What is their problem?  Why should his parents deserve death threats? 

It appears that Bergdahl left his post in Afghanistan without his weapon, and without food or water.  Where did he think he was going in the middle of Afghanistan?  Anyone who would do this must not be in his right mind.  He must be mentally ill.  He may have been suicidal. 

This type of action requires treatment and compassion. 

But what about all of the Americans who feel the need to send death threats to his parents?  Are these people mentally ill also?  They must be.  It appears that half of the American population is mentally ill.  We have a serious problem in America.  I do not know the solution.  Certainly guns are a major part of the problem.  Most people seem to believe that all problems can be solved by shooting someone.  What has brought us to this state?
