PSALMS FOR PEACEMAKERS

I have written and published a book, PSALMS FOR PEACEMAKERS.  The Psalms of the Bible are a beautiful collection of songs, poetry, and literature, but in the midst of a truly inspirational line of poetry the psalmist will suddenly say, "Oh God, if only you would destroy all of my enemies!"  The Psalms are filled with curses and cries for vengeance.  I have lifted the poetry and inspirational lines from the Psalms and left behind the curses and the desire for vengeance.  I do not believe that these messages are meaningful for meditation and prayer.  They are very human desires and do not reflect God's inspiration. 

I have listed the Beatitudes from the Psalms.  I feel that these were the precursers for Jesus Beatitudes.  The Hebrew word can be translated as blessed or happy.  In the Psalms they are generally translated happy and in the New Testament they are generally translated blessed.  The Hebrew word means striving for spiritual happiness.  The statement that "The meek shall inherit the earth" comes directly from Psalm 37.  A great deal of Jesus' teaching came from the Psalms.
