AFGHANISTAN

We cannot afford war.

We do not have an army.

The latest figures show that sending 40,000 troops to Afghanistan will cost 40-54 BILLION dollars. We do not have the money for this. The Republicans say that we cannot afford health care for the American people. Health care for Americans would cost far less than a war. It is obvious that we cannot afford war.

Our army is all volunteer. Troops are being sent over and over again to Iraq and Afghanistan. They are exhausted and suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome. We cannot keep this up. The only way we could manage a war would be to re-institute the draft. Would the American people accept a draft? Not likely.

This is actually a good thing. It is time to put an end to war.
