The Gasoline Fix
It may sound very cynical, but I have seen enough to truly believe that the oil companies have total control of gasoline prices. It was the oil companies that drove up the price of gasoline over the past year to more than four dollars a gallon. They did it because they wanted the consumers to absolutely demand more drilling. They wanted to have to the rights to all off shore drilling. They also wanted the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. They got enough people to demand the rights to offshore drilling. They were not able to get the right to drill in the Alaskan Refuge. Now the price of gasoline has greatly declined. Why? Not because of the extra drilling rights. They have not yet even begun to drill. No, just because they got what they wanted. Now they are on another campaign. They are fighting against alternative energy. With the price of gasoline so high, alternative energy was becoming competitive. But they have now lowered the price in order to give people second thoughts about pursuing alternative energy when we have so many economic problems. This way people will keep their trucks and SUVs and burn all the fuel they want, which is good for oil sales. The oil companies know exactly how to manipulate the American people. We certainly need to stop subsidizing them. They have made enough money lately to manage their finances quite well.
